Minutes of Regular Meeting of Village of Mendon - Adams County, Illinois Held on Thursday, December 8, 2022 

The Mendon Village Board of Trustees met in regular session on Thursday, December 8, 2022, in the Village Office. The meeting was called to order at 7:04 pm by Village Mayor David Wittler. Trustees present were: Bastert, Buss, Cannell, Cantrell and King. Trustee Keefe was absent. Village Superintendent Cantrell and Village Clerk Woodruff were present. There were no guests present. There were no deputies in attendance.

Deputies Report: 

∙ Disturbance between neighbors – counseled 

∙ Keep the peace 

∙ Disposed of drug paraphernalia located 

∙ (4) Traffic stops – verbal warnings 

∙ Located some stolen tools in Missouri pawn shop. Working with Marion County Sheriff. Having them bring charges for possession of property. Owner of tools has been notified.

Maintenance Superintendent’s Report: 

∙ Zach Seals Water Main Update – 3 quotes were presented and the board discussed options for selecting a contractor to do the repair.

Mayor's Report: 

∙ A quote for painting the office building interior was presented and approved to be paid for under the budget line item. Plans are to make changes in the board room and showcase matted and framed pictures presented to the board by a local business. 

∙ A report was given on the result of the republican caucus and the democratic caucus. 3 nominations were made for 4 year terms and one nomination was made for a 2 year term.

Mayor's Report

Other Discussion: 

∙ Discussion was held regarding the continued lack of lighting in the Dollar General Parking area and entrance into the business. Board Member King indicated that he had called customer service and did not receive a reply. He then sent an email and said a work order was in the system to repair the outdoor lighting of the parking lot and entrance. Discussion was also held regarding talking with Adams Electric and Ameren to see about the possibility of putting a street light along the highway with a light projecting across to the entrance. 

∙ Discussion was also held regarding a speed limit sign on 1100 North (near the Unity Multiplex). A resident of a property at the Multiplex has complained and asked for the issue to be looked into. The ordinances that are involved with be reviewed and a 

recommendation for any change will be made at the January 2023 meeting. 

∙ Discussion was held regarding moving the January meeting to the Mendon Diner and Tap and to change the start time for this one meeting to 6:15. The change of time and place will be posted on the next Agenda, the Village Web Site and the Mendon Dispatch.
