The following minutes are tentative and will not become official minutes of the

Board of Education until their scheduled approval at the next regular meeting.

Call to Order and Roll Call 

The Southeastern Community Unit District #337 Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, January 23, 2023 in the Board of Education Office (Room #126) in Augusta, Illinois. John Eilers, Board President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Roll Call verified that there was a quorum of the Board of Education with the following members present and absent as listed below:

Approval of Agenda Items 

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Hitz, the Board of Education approved the agenda items as presented.

Approval of Minutes 

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Hitz, the Board of Education approved the minutes from the December 19, 2022 regular meeting as presented.

Special Recognition 

Superintendent Fox named the Board Excellence accomplishments including January Sun of the Month, 4th Place Quincy Invitational Wrestling Meet, 7-1 Abe’s Rumble Tournament, FBLA Western Area Conference Section Vice-President, FBLA Western Area Conference Section President, FBLA State Vice-President, CSE Classic All-Tournament Basketball Team, Bloomington State Farm Classic Tournament, Selected to Sing the National Anthem at the IESA Class 1A State Volleyball Tournament, CSE Girls Varsity Basketball Classic Champions, Bloomington State Farm Classic Tournament Champions, Varsity Basketball 2nd Place Hancock County Tournament, 4th Place Macomb Holiday Tournament, Hancock County Tournament MVP, Macomb Holiday Basketball Tournament All-Tournament Team.

Financial 

Superintendent Fox presented the monthly financial snapshot showing we are 50% into the fiscal year. We have received 67% of our budgeted revenue and have spent 55% of budgeted expenditures.

On a motion by Member Hitz and a second by Member Kearby, the Board of Education approved the bills, financial statements, and activity funds.

Informational Items 

Superintendent Fox reviewed the seniority lists (certified and non-certified).

Superintendent Fox gave update on 2023 school board election.

Superintendent Fox discussed a school resource officer.

Administrative reports were given with Superintendent Fox reporting on recent bills discussed in the house and senate. He added that he was very proud of what our staff did after the water break from the sprinkler system that happened on Christmas Eve to get the building ready for the return to school on January 3.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by member Hitz, the Board of Education moved into closed session at 7:27 p.m. for the purpose of the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, including hearing testimony on a complaint ledged against an employee to determine its validity; and collective negotiating matters between the school board and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees.

On a motion by Member Hitz and a second by Member Kearby, the Board of Education approved the deposit account agreement and investment agreement with Bowen Bank of Advance effective February 1, 2023 through January 31, 2024.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Kearby, the Board of Education accepted the resignation of Molly Milby in the position of bus monitor and part-time cook effective January 12, 2023.
