Hawks Collect Home Conference Win
The women's basketball team hosted Southwest Baptist on Saturday (Jan. 14) afternoon in Pepsi Arena. The Hawks used a 17-3 run over the final four minutes of the contest to come away with their 3rd GLVC victory of the season by the score of 63-59.
This was the program's first win in Pepsi Arena over SBU in 14 years (11/21/2009).
The Hawks were led by Beth Matas Martin with 19 points on 7 of 18 shooting. She gave QU the lead for good with under three minutes to play. Sarah Nelson was the other Hawk in double figures with 13 points. Meanwhile, Emma Knipe pulled down 16 rebounds, which ties her career high.
QU was 12 of 14 from the free throw line, including 5 of 6 in the final stanza. They only allowed SBU to shoot 4 free throws on the afternoon.
Quincy will wrap up the three-game home stand on Monday, January 14th at 5:30 p.m. hosting the 2nd-ranked team in the country with the Drury University Panthers.
