Hawks Snap Nine Game Losing Streak Against Truman State
Back on the court for the first time in 18 days, the Hawks traveled to Truman State for a GLVC contest on Thursday, January 5th. QU came away victorious at Pershing Arena for the first time since February 23, 2017 by the score of 85-74.
The Hawks did not appear to have any holiday rust from their break as they came out of the gate and shot 57 percent from the field. QU made six of its first 7 shots leading up to the first media timeout and that gave them a 14-7 lead. Their lead swelled to 22-11 as a part of a 10-0 run at the under 12 minute media. During the latter part of the opening half, Quincy used a 17-4 run to give them a 41-19 lead. They would lead 23 points at the break.
Malik Hardmon, who had a career-high 29 points, gave the Hawks their biggest lead of the night on a 3-pointer just fifteen seconds into the 2nd half. QU used a 9-0 run in the middle part of the half to stretch the lead to over 20 points. The Hawks were able to keep the Bulldogs at an arm's length as the lead remained in double digits.
