Payson Community Unit School District #1 Board of Education met Oct. 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER

Denise Albsmeyer called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.

ROLL CALL

Nancy Cromie, district secretary, called roll with the following members present: Denise Albsmeyer, Keith Barry, Trista Neisen and Vinson Sill. Danelle Donley, Lisa Schwartz and Clint Twaddle were absent.

Also present were Donna Veile, Julie Phelan, Greg Buescher, Barb Speckhart, Don Miller and Nancy Cromie.

VISITORS

Diane Germann, Tahnee Bauer

TECHNOLOGY REPORT

Barb Speckhart reported that there is currently beta testing on an app for the school website.

AD REPORT

Don Miller gave a report on the status of current sports. There is interest in starting a wrestling program.

CONSENT AGENDA

Sill made a motion to approve the consent agenda. Neisen seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Neisen and Sill NAY: None

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Donna Veile shared that the district report card has not been released by ISBE. Boiler repairs are needed at the elementary. There was a reminder that the November meeting is on Tuesday, November 15.

SALARY AND BENEFITS REPORT

Albsmeyer made a motion to approve the salary and benefits report. Sill seconded the motion. AYE: Barry, Neisen, Sill and Albsmeyer NAY: None

REVISED 2022-23 SCHOOL CALENDAR

Neisen made a motion to approve the revised 2022-23 school calendar. Barry seconded the motion. AYE: Neisen, Sill, Albsmeyer and Barry NAY: None

ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL REPORT

Julie Phelan reported that the ELA and Math Leadership teams met to discuss MAP data and to develop the school improvement goals. The PTO Fall Food Drive collected over 250 items. Teachers are preparing for parent-teacher conferences. Cheryl Loatsch gave a presentation to the 2nd and 3rd grade PE classes.

SECONDARY PRINCIPAL REPORT

Greg Buescher shared information about the FAFSA information and filing nights. The FFA made 175 meals for their Feed The Farmer event. Teachers are preparing for parent-teacher conferences. Staff and students participated in their first school picnic and enjoyed a cookout and games.

MOVE TO CLOSED SESSION

Sill made a motion to move into closed session for the purpose of discussing the employment of personnel, student matters, and other items appropriate for closed session. Barry seconded the motion. AYE: Sill, Albsmeyer, Barry and Neisen NAY: None

Entered into closed session at 7:41 p.m.

RETURN TO OPEN SESSION

Neisen made a motion to return to open session. Sill seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Neisen and Sill NAY: None

Returned to open session at 9:48 p.m.

PERSONNEL ADDENDUM

Neisen made a motion to approve the personnel addendum. Barry seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Neisen and Sill NAY: None

ADJOURNMENT

Sill made a motion to adjourn. Neisen seconded the motion. AYE: Neisen, Sill, Albsmeyer and Barry NAY: None

Meeting adjourned at 10:03 p.m.
