John Wood Community College Board of Trustees Executive Committee met Dec. 8.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Executive Committee met at 10:30 a.m. Attendees were Mr. Bob Rhea trustee, Ms. Diane Ary, Mr. Larry Fischer, Mr. Andy Sprague, Dr. Bryan Renfro, Mr. Michael Elbe, president, and Ms. Leah Benz, executive assistant, note taker.

December Board of Trustees Business Agenda items discussed:

Adoption of Resolution and Certificate to levy additional tax

Adoption of a Resolution to levy taxes and Certificate of the tax levy

ICCTA dues - second half for 2022 - $4,028.00

Accept and award the electric automation for the auditorium stage

Accept and award Heat Pump proposal to Peters Heating & Air Conditioning for Student Activity Center $51,667

Accept and award the proposal for the Courtyard sound equipment

Authorization to approve Deters Farm Lease

Approval to accept and file the audit report as presented

Consideration and action on Resolution accepting donation from Orr Corporation of Improvements located at the Agriculture Center

Consent Agenda

Personnel items were discussed.

Discussion items

Tenure – Two faculty will receive the letter to submit their documents for consideration to receive tenure. They are Dr. Osman Cen, and Jamie Chapman both faculty of Natural Sciences & Engineering.

HLC - After review of the HLC document sent to the College after their on-site visit President Elbe drafted the response back to the reviewers. The final confirmation will be sent later this month of early in January.

Park District Park – The Executive Committee heard that the park board is proposing JWCC consider allowing the park district to construct a park on our property for the south side of Quincy. Further discussion will be held. This is in the very preliminary stages with no action taking place at this time.

Innovation Center Hannibal Missouri – President Elbe, Dave Hetzler, and Keely Rager met with Hannibal Public Board of Education on be part of the innovation center located in Hannibal Missouri. The College made a presentation of programs to offer for consideration. No final confirmation on the outcome of this has been received thus far.

Board Election Update - Three seats on the current Board are up for re-election in April 2023. They are Ms. Diane Ary, Mr. Larry Fischer, and Mr. Bob Rhea. Filing begins Monday December 12, 2022 and runs through Monday, December 19, 2022.

The committee was informed the Dr. Curt Oldfield will be attending the December meeting, joining for dinner, to present president Elbe with an ICCTA award.
