Lights Out Shooting Paces UIS over Quincy
The University of Illinois – Springfield Prairie used a 52 point second half to hand the Hawks their first conference loss of the season by the score of 88-53.
UIS would lead from the outset of the game and never look back. They started on a 10-4 run, but a jumper by Paul Zilinskas cut it to a four point game at the first media timeout. Connor Davis made it a one point game seven minutes in, but that was the closest the Hawks would be the rest of the night. The UIS lead would balloon to as large as 12 with five minutes left in the half at 31-19. Eventually, QU cut the margin back to single digits at the halftime break.
UIS came out of the locker shooting lights out. They used a 16-3 run over the opening 6 minutes of 43 seconds to extend the lead to 22, as they were 7 of 8 from the field in that stretch. The lead grew to 26 at the midway point of the half. Ultimately, the Hawks could not find an answer for the hot shooting of the Prairie Stars.
The Hawks return home for a non-conference game against the Grand Valley State University Lakers on December 6th at 7:00 p.m.
