Call to Order and Roll Call

The Southeastern Community Unit District #337 Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, November 14, 2022 in the Board of Education Office (Room #126) in Augusta, Illinois. John Eilers, Board President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Roll Call verified that there was a quorum of the Board of Education with the following members present and absent as listed below:

Approval of Agenda Items

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Winters, the Board of Education approved the agenda items as presented.

Approval of Minutes

On a motion by Member Hitz and a second by Member Kearby, the Board of Education approved the minutes from the October 24, 2022 regular board meeting and closed session board meeting.

Special Recognition

Superintendent Fox named the Board Excellence accomplishments including Sun of the Month, I8Man All Conference Central Division First Team Defensive Lineman, I8Man All Conference Central Division 2nd Team Outside Linebacker, KHQA Student Athlete of the Week, West Central Conference All-Conference Volleyball Honorable Mention, Illinois Volleyball Coaches Association Academic All-State, West Central Conference All Conference Volleyball First Team, Illinois Volleyball Coaches Association All-State Honorable Mention Team, Volleyball 1A Regional champions and 1A Sectional champions. Superintendent Fox congratulated Coach Kerr and the teams.

Financial

Superintendent Fox reviewed the monthly financial snapshot which shows we are 33% into the fiscal year. We have received 57% of our budgeted revenue and have spent 40% of our budgeted expenditures.

On a motion by Member Hitz and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education approved the bills, financial statements, and activity funds.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Smith, the Board of Education approved the 2022 tax levy request in the amount of $3,784,300.

On a motion by Member Hitz and a second by Member Winters, the Board of Education approved to schedule the Truth in Taxation Hearing for Monday, December 19, 2022 at 6:30 p.m.

Informational Items

Superintendent Fox gave update on School Safety.

Superintendent Fox reported all Southeastern schools are Commendable on the 2022 Summative Designation.

Superintendent Fox discussed the County Facility Sales Tax.

Superintendent Fox reported on the Maintenance Grant.

Superintendent Fox discussed the Non-Certified Pay Schedule for fiscal year 2023.

Superintendent Fox reported on the Western Area School network switch.

Administrative reports were given with Mr. Gooding reporting on the State Report Card for the Elementary building, Mrs. Harrison reporting on the State Report Card for the Junior/Senior high building and Mr. Kerr reporting on attendance rates. Mrs. Lantz reported on the number of new students enrolled. We have started the Christmas project with about 60 families. Mr. Fox reported that the Veterans Day program was a very special time and we received a lot of compliments from our veterans.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Hitz, the Board of Education moved into closed session at 7:43 p.m. for the purpose of the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity.

Action Items

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Hitz, the Board of Education approved the early graduation of class of 2023 senior Stephanie Campbell contingent upon meeting all graduation requirements by December 31, 2022.

On a motion by Member Winters and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education approved the employment of Cyle Rigg in the position of bus driver.

On a motion by Member Winters and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education voted to adjourn the meeting at 7:54 p.m.
