Illinois state Sen. Jil Tracy recently reminded her voters to participate in a veteran’s event.

“To pay tribute to veterans and honor their legacies and sacrifices, State Senator Jil Tracy (R-Quincy) is asking constituents to submit photos and stories of their loved ones who served our nation for display on the first floor of the State Capitol,” a post on her Facebook page said this week.

Submissions should be emailed to veteransday@sgop.ilga.gov by Nov. 10 to be included in the “Honoring All Who Served” Veterans Day display at the State Capitol, a release on Tracy's website said this week. Submissions will be accepted through Nov. 28, and the display will be updated each day to include new entries. Submissions can also be sent by mail to Veterans Day Wall; 108 Statehouse; Springfield, IL 62706. For questions, call (217) 782-0956.

"Families are asked to submit a photo and written story (max: 250 words) with the following information: name, military branch (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, National Guard, Navy) and conflict served (Afghanistan, Iraq, September 11, Gulf War, Vietnam, Korea, WWII, WWI, Peacetime, other)," the release said. "Military photos are preferred but not necessary."

In a video posted on Tracy's Facebook page, the display is explained this way:

"The Veteran's Day Wall of Honor at the statehouse has a simple yet powerful display that honors all who served our country. The Illinois Senate Republican Caucus is once again hosting this display in the Capitol Rotunda. We would love your participation to pay tribute to your loved one. The Senate Republican Caucus is encouraging anyone across the state to submit a photograph and a brief written story of any veteran to be displayed in the Illinois State Capitol from Nov. 10 through Nov. 28. it's a perfect opportunity to tell the amazing stories of our heroes to those who visit our State Capitol.”
