Call to Order and Roll Call

The Southeastern Community Unit District #337 Board of Education met in regular session in the Board of Education Office (Room #123) in Augusta, Illinois. Greg Tippey, Board Vice President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Roll Call verified that there was a quorum of the Board of Education with the following members present and absent as listed below:

On a motion by Member Winters and a second by Member Kearby, the Board of Education approved the agenda items as amended.

On a motion by Member Hitz and a second by Member Winters, the Board of Education approved the minutes from the August 22, 2022 regular meeting and closed session.

Budget Hearing

On a motion by Member Winters and a second by Member Smith, the Board of Education opened the public hearing at 6:31 p.m. on the FY2023 Southeastern Community School District #337 budget. Roll Call Vote:

Aye: Holst, Kearby, Smith, Tippey, Winters, Hitz

Nay: None

Absent: Eilers

On a motion by Member Kearby and a second by Member Smith, the Board of Education closed the public hearing at 6:50 p.m. on the FY2023 Southeastern Community School District #337 budget. Roll Call Vote:

Aye: Kearby, Smith, Tippey, Winters, Hitz, Holst

Nay: None

On a motion by Member Winters and a second by Member Kearby, the Board of Education approved the FY2023 Southeastern Community School District #337 budget as presented.

Public Participation

Ron Hilton, auditor, gave the annual financial report.

Special Recognition

The Board Excellence site featured September Sun of the Month, JH baseball All-State Team, New Berlin Tournament All-Tournament Team, Lady Suns Classic All-Tournament Team, JH Softball All-State Team, 2nd place Lady Suns Class Tournament.

Financial

On a motion by Member Hitz and a second by Member Winters, the Board of Education approved the FY2022 Annual Financial Report as presented.

On a motion by Member Kearby and a second by Member Smith, the Board of Education approved the bills, financial statements, and activity funds.

Informational Items

Superintendent Fox gave update on the school safety.

Superintendent Fox discussed the Health Insurance Network.

Superintendent Fox presented the Reduction in Force Joint Committee.

Superintendent Fox gave discussed the bus driver shortage.

Superintendent Fox informed the board of the tuition rate which is based on the district’s actual expenditures and found on the annual financial report.

Superintendent Fox discussed the availability of the maintenance grant.

Administrative reports were given with Mrs. Lantz giving update on Rural School Safety Project in which five Southeastern staff members attended the training, Mr. Rigg gave report on updated IESA Ejection Policy, Mr. Gooding gave update on Elementary Discipline and Incentives, Mrs. Harrison reported on Student Government, and Mr. Kerr reported on the Dual Credit Courses, CEO Program and Work Study Program. Superintendent Fox reminded the board about the upcoming board election in Spring of 2023.

On a motion by Member Kearby and a second by Member Hitz, the Board of Education moved into closed session at 8:38 p.m. for the purpose of the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity.

The board returned to Open Session at 8:55 p.m.

Action Items

On a motion by Member Hitz and a second by Member Kearby, the Board of Education approved the purchase of CrisisGo Emergency Management Platform.

On a motion by Member Winters and a second by Member Kearby, the Board of Education voted to adjourn the meeting at 9:08 p.m.
