John Wood Community College Executive Committee met Aug. 11.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The Executive Committee met on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Attendees were Ms. Diane Ary (absent), Mr. Bob Rhea trustee, (via zoom) and Mr. Larry Fischer, trustee, (in-person), Mr. Andy Sprague, (via zoom) Mr. Michael Elbe, president, and Ms. Leah Benz, executive assistant, note taker.

Agricultural Sciences Complex - The ribbon cutting of this new facility was held on August 9. The event had agricultural leaders, legislators, U of I representatives, extension representatives, and community members in attendance. A great event.

CD’s - The committee heard CD rates were up and ranging from 2.5% -3.3%. Investments are being transferred.

College Catalog 2022-2023

Bid opening for boiler for D building

Grants – Four grants are being presented.

Three grants the College will accept of funds and one as an application submission.

Discussion items

WDC Groundbreaking – This event is scheduled for September 7 at 9:00 a.m.

Convocation - Convocation is scheduled for August 18, 2022, with dinner at 5:00 and meeting following dinner. Diane Ary, chair, will provide the welcome from the Board of Trustees.

HLC - The committee heard that Cabinet has been reviewing the criteria of the HLC document. Evaluator names and their credentials were sent via e-mail to the President prior to their visit in October.

Fall Retreat – The Fall retreat is scheduled for October 17. Committee members were asked to submit agenda items. This date is also when the final presidential candidate will be selected.

Presidential Search – No update to the presidential search. The first meeting is scheduled for Friday, August 19 from 1:00-4:00. Angela Provart, consultant, will be sending an agenda and supporting documents to the search committee members on the process and next steps. Applications are due August 29.

The committee discussed transitioning of the president, timeline, and expectations.
