Payson Community Unit School District #1 Board of Education met June 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER

Lisa Schwartz, president, called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.

ROLL CALL

Nancy Cromie, district secretary, called roll with the following members present: Denise Albsmeyer, Chanse Barker, Danelle Donley, Trista Neisen and Lisa Schwartz. Vinson Sill and Clint Twaddle were absent.

Also present were Donna Veile and Nancy Cromie.

Diane Germann, Tahnee Bauer and John Peters

CONSENT AGENDA

Neisen made a motion to approve the consent agenda. Albsmeyer seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barker, Donley, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

PUBLIC HEARING ON NON-RESIDENT TUITION WAIVER FOR STUDENTS OF FULL-TIME STAFF

Schwartz made a motion to open the hearing. Donley seconded the motion. AYE: Barker, Donley, Neisen, Albsmeyer and Schwartz NAY: None

John Peters shared his concern regarding the taxpayers’ money being used for this. Board members asked for clarification. The narrative was read and It was explained that it is being used as an incentive to draw in needed staff.

Neisen made a motion to close the hearing. Schwartz seconded the motion. AYE: Barker, Donley, Neisen, Albsmeyer and Schwartz NAY: None

FY22 AMENDED BUDGET HEARING

Barker made a motion to open the hearing. Donley seconded the motion. AYE: Neisen, Albsmeyer, Barker, Donley and Schwartz NAY: None

There was no public comment.

Albsmeyer made a motion to close the hearing. Barker seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barker, Donley, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

TECHNOLOGY

There are no changes to the District Acceptable Use policy regarding use of the internet. There was no public comment on CIPA (Children’s Internet Protection Act).

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Donna Veile gave updates on insurance renewal and the school safety meeting and reminded board members that they are Mandated Reporters if they suspect child abuse. The Chicago board conference is November 18-20.

IASB POLICIES

Schwartz made a motion to approve the first reading of IASB policies as listed on the agenda. Barker seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barker, Donley, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

2022-23 MEETING DATES

Donley made a motion to approve the 2022-23 meeting dates. Schwartz seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barker, Donley, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

CONSOLIDATED DISTRICT PLAN

Neisen made a motion to approve the consolidated district plan. Barker seconded the motion. AYE: Neisen, Albsmeyer, Barker, Donley and Schwartz NAY: None

NON-RESIDENT TUITION WAIVER FOR STUDENTS OF FULL-TIME STAFF

Schwartz made a motion to approve applying for the non-resident tuition waiver for students of full-time staff. Donley seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barker, Donley, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

FY22 AMENDED BUDGET

Barker made a motion to approve the FY22 amended budget. Donley seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barker, Donley, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

AUTHORIZE GREG BUESCHER AS ACCOUNT SIGNER

Neisen made a motion to authorize Greg Buescher as a signer on the Seymour HS ECA checking and savings funds, effective July 1, 2022. Albsmeyer seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barker, Donley, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

2022-23 INSTRUCTION AND MEAL FEES

Donley made a motion to approve the 2022-23 instruction and meal fees. Neisen seconded the motion. AYE: Barker, Donley, Neisen, Albsmeyer and Schwartz NAY: None

MOVE TO CLOSED SESSION

Neisen made a motion to move into closed session for the purpose of discussing the employment of personnel, student matters, and other items appropriate for closed session. Schwartz seconded the motion. AYE: Donley, Neisen, Albsmeyer, Barker and Schwartz NAY: None

Entered into closed session at 8:13 p.m.

RETURN TO OPEN SESSION

Barker made a motion to return to open session. Neisen seconded the motion. AYE: Neisen, Albsmeyer, Barker, Donley and Schwartz NAY: None

Returned to open session at 9:54 p.m.

PERSONNEL ADDENDUM

Donley made a motion to approve the personnel addendum. Neisen seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Donley, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None ABSTAIN: Barker

ADJOURNMENT Barker made a motion to adjourn. Donley seconded the motion. AYE: Barker, Donley, Neisen, Albsmeyer and Schwartz NAY: None
