Rep. Randy Frese (R-Quincy) claimed victory in the primary last month and is moving uncontested in the upcoming November general election.
“It’s been a busy season with a lot of work to be done,” he wrote on Facebook. “While I continue to serve the wonderful District 94 constituents, I’m also on the move trying to get to know all the great people in the newly formed District 99.”
Ballotpedia wrote Frese took office in 2015.
Frese announced that his fund-raising golf outing, scheduled for Aug. 19, will be held at Rolling Greens Golf Course on Route 99 in Mount Sterling.
The newly formed 99th District came after Democratic lawmakers drew up a new map.
“I will continue to be a voice for taxpayers by standing with them in opposing tax increases, pushing for tougher ethics reform, and advocating for the rights of the unborn and gun owners,” he said to My Journal-Courier.
He visited Jacksonville on July 11, with a stop at The Little Stove in a two-hour event.
Frese has called for honoring the lives of service members.
“This Memorial Day, take a moment to remember and honor the service members who have given their lives so that we can be free,” he said to the Quincy Reporter. “Let us never forget their sacrifice, courage, and devotion to our nation.”
In April, Frese questioned the audit findings of Northern Illinois University, particularly focusing on the decline in enrollment.
Frese questioned NIU President Lisa Freeman and other university officials about the increased cost per student and spending during an April 27 Legislative Audit Commission.
“Can you expound to me on what those auxiliary enterprises are? Because 13% of that budget seems to be a large amount that I'd like to see a little bit more detail on," Frese said in questioning a line item under total revenue and expenditures.
