Payson Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met Oct. 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER Lisa Schwartz, president, called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.

ROLL CALL Nancy Cromie, district secretary, called roll with the following members present: Denise Albsmeyer, Danelle Donley, Lisa Schwartz, Vinson Sill and Clint Twaddle. Chanse Barker was absent.

Also present were Donna Veile, Julie Phelan, Barb Speckhart, Don Miller and Nancy Cromie.

VISITORS Jeff McPherson, Diane Germann, Tahnee Bauer, Carrie Rice, Steve Rice, Carmen Baumgartner and Trista Neisen

BOARD APPOINTMENT Twaddle made a motion to appoint Trista Neisen to the board. Sill seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Donley, Sill, Twaddle and Schwarz NAY: None Neisen recited the oath.

AUDIT

Jeff McPherson of Gray Hunter Stenn presented the FY21 district audit to the board. The district received a perfect score of 4.0.

AD REPORT Don Miller reported on the status of current sports.

TECHNOLOGY REPORT Barb Speckhart talked about eRate money, security cameras and adding wireless points.

CONSENT AGENDA Sill made a motion to approve the consent agenda. Twaddle seconded the motion. AYE: Donley, Neisen, Sill, Twaddle, Albsmeyer and Schwartz NAY: None

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT Donna Veile information regarding HVAC installation at the high school, the Health/Life Safety inspections and a new CDARS. The district report card issued by ISBE has not been released yet. She also reminded board members that the November board meeting is on November 16.

SALARY AND BENEFITS REPORT Schwartz made a motion to approve the salary and benefits report. Twaddle seconded the motion. AYE: Donley, Neisen, Sill, Twaddle, Albsmeyer and Schwartz NAY: None

IDOT HAZARDOUS ROUTE APPLICATION Donley made a motion to approve the hazardous route application to be submitted to IDOT for consideration. Schwartz seconded the motion. AYE: Sill, Twaddle, Albsmeyer, Donley, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL REPORT Julie Phelan reported on an upcoming staff training on de-escalation tips and school emergency drills. PTO collected 400 items for their Fall food drive. Parents are being offered the option of in-person or virtual parent-teacher conferences this year.

SECONDARY PRINCIPAL REPORT Dawn VanCamp submitted a report on FFA activities and the FAFSA night. Parents are being offered the option of in-person or virtual parent-teacher conferences this year.

MOVE TO CLOSED SESSION Sill made a motion to move into closed session for the purpose of discussing the employment of personnel, student matters, and other items appropriate for closed session. Donley seconded the motion. AYE: Twaddle, Albsmeyer, Donley, Neisen, Sill and Schwartz NAY: None

Entered into closed session at 7:32 p.m.

RETURN TO OPEN SESSION Donley made a motion to return to open session. Albsmeyer seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Donley, Neisen, Sill, Twaddle and Schwartz NAY: None

Returned to open session at 8:43 p.m.

PERSONNEL ADDENDUM Twaddle made a motion to approve the personnel addendum. Donley seconded the motion. AYE: Donley, Neisen, Sill, Twaddle, Albsmeyer and Schwartz NAY: None

EARLY GRADUATION REQUEST Sill made a motion to approve an early graduation request, pending completion of credit requirements. Neisen seconded the motion. AYE: Neisen, Sill, Twaddle, Albsmeyer, Donley and Schwartz NAY: None

ADJOURNMENT Sill made a motion to adjourn. Schwartz seconded the motion. AYE: Donley, Neisen, Sill, Twaddle, Albsmeyer and Schwartz NAY: None
