Central Community Unit School District #3 Board of Education met Oct. 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Jason Ippensen, Board President, called the Regular Meeting of Central School District #3 Board of Education, Adams County, to order at 6:30 p.m. at the Central High School auditorium. Roll Call verified that there was a quorum of the Board.

Following the prayer and pledge, President Ippensen asked if there were any questions and/or comments from the public. 

Eric Ruffcorn asked the board to consider allowing him to organize a Trap Shooting Team for Central. Students will have safety training and would have to follow the same eligibility guidelines to participate, like any other sports. After some discussion, the board decided to vote on this at next month's board meeting. 

Steve Moore voiced his concerns with the Critical Race Theory. 

Niki Buehler has concerns with making sure teachers know the chain of command for grievance procedures. 

With no other questions and/or comments from the public the meeting continued. 

Motion was made by Member Fessler, seconded by Member Cooley, to accept the superintendent's recommendation to approve the current agenda.

Nay: None 

Absent: Kestner, Marlow 

Motion Carried. 

Consent Agenda 

Motion was made by Member Hildebrand, seconded by Member Ippensen, to accept the superintendent's recommendation to approve the consent agenda: 

September 16, 2021 Budget Hearing and Board Minutes Approval of October Bills (Doc. Reg. #5693) Treasurer's Report (Doc. Reg. #5694) 

Roll Call Vote: Aye: Ippensen, Hamilton, Cooley, Fessler, Hildebrand Nay: None Absent: Kestner, Marlow Motion Carried. 

Committee Brief Action Items 

BUILDING: 

• None at this time. 

FINANCE: 

The next meeting will be November 17th at 5:30 p.m. 

• The Tax Levy will be presented at the November board meeting. 

CURRICULUM: 

• None at this time. 

POLICY: 

• None at this time. 

Old Business 

• Katie Hildebrand was acknowledged for being named October Senior of the month. Alana Edgecomb was acknowledged for being selected as this year's DAR Good Citizen. A thank you note was read from Kristen & Brett Obert for the wedding gift they received. 

New Business 

• FOIA request from Smart Procure (Doc. Reg. #5695) 

Motion was made by Member Hamilton, seconded by Member Cooley, to approve a three-year lease with Midwest Transit Equipment for (4) four 2023 International busses. (Doc. Reg. #5696)

Motion was made by Member Ippensen, seconded by Member Hamilton, to approve the FFA National 

Convention Plans to travel to Indianapolis. (Doc. Reg. #5697)

Superintendent Report 

Parent teacher conferences on October 27th /28th. No School 29th. Superintendent Smith attended a meeting in Macomb with ISBE and other area Superintendents. The group voiced their opinions to ISBE saying “We know what is best for our communities; Ask schools what works for them; We need to work together and synergize but we don't feel like that is what's happening; We are trying to make a difference." 

Administrative Building Reports (Doc. Reg. #5698) 

► All administrators presented their Student Improvement Goals. Eric Stotts - CES 

► October 28th – Halloween Dress Up and Parties. 

► November 12th – Celebrating the 60's on the 60th day of school. 

► November 15th – Wearing Blue for Diabetes Awareness Month 

Chevi Ingalls - CMS 

► October 24th – 28th – Book Fair/Pumpkins for Change Week 

► Thanks to our sponsor for supporting our leaders at CMS. The Student Leadership Team designed the shirts for the 2021-2022 school year. 

Kathleen MacGregor - CJHS 

► November 11th – Mobile Dentist 

► November 19th - Picture Retake Day/Sports Pictures 

The 7th/8th Grade Band Students enjoyed performing with the High School Marching Band at the last home varsity football game! Martin Cook – CHS 

► Homecoming week was a success! The Homecoming game was a blowout and the Homecoming dance was very nice. There were 205 kids at the dance that night. The marching band marched on the Barry Apple Festival Parade. The Band placed 2nd overall and earned awards for Best Drumline and Best Drum Major. FFA held their Feed the Farmer fundraiser on October 9th in which they provided lunch for our area farmers. This allows our students in FFA to get out and help feed area 

farmers during this harvest season. 

► Panther Volleyball Pink Night raised $3,500 for the Blessing Breast Cancer Center. 

► CHS will host a Fall Blood Drive on October 22nd from 8:00-1:00 in the IRC. 

Executive Session 

Motion was made by Member Hildebrand seconded by Member Cooley, to go into Executive Session at 7:50 p.m.

Nay: None

Absent: Kestner, Marlow Motion Carried. 

Motion was made by Member Fessler, seconded by Member Hildebrand, to return to Open Session at 9:05 p.m.

Motion Carried. 

Motion was made by Member Ippensen, seconded by Member Hamilton, to adopt the personnel addendum as presented. (Doc. Reg. #5699)
