Blessing Health System issued the following announcement on Apr. 1.
Stacey Jarrett. RN, Centralized Staffing, became the 58th Blessing Hospital nurse to receive the international DAISY Award during a ceremony on March 25, 2021.
Patients or family members, visitors, doctors, hospital staff members or volunteers may recognize the extraordinary care provided by nurses by nominating them for a DAISY award.
Stacey received two nominations. The first came from the daughter of an elderly patient who suffered a fractured right hip as the result of a fall. The nomination said, in part: “I am a nurse. I have very high expectations for the delivery of care for all patients and their families and loved ones. While all of the staff have been extremely helpful, Stacey went above and beyond to offer her support, nursing expertise, and simply to take time to listen and guide our family through some difficult decisions.”
The second nomination came from a patient who Stacey helped care for after the patient’s COVID-19 diagnosis. The nomination read, in part: “I am a 26-year old who has never been hospitalized and was scared to death to be there alone. Stacey immediately made me feel comfortable and did her best to make sure I had everything that I needed. I can never express how thankful I am for the compassion that was shown. My mind was instantly at ease because of her compassion and kindness. Thank you Stacey, and the rest of the staff in the COVID Unit, for your impeccable care!”
DAISY stands for “Diseases Attacking the Immune System.” The family of a 33-year- old man, who died of an immune system disorder, began the program in 1999 to honor his memory by recognizing extraordinary nurses everywhere who make a difference in the lives of people by the work they do every day. More than 4,000 healthcare providers worldwide participate in the DAISY Award program.
