Adams County Board Public Health & Safety Committee Met Dec. 22.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Committee members present: Steve DeMoss and Barbara Fletcher. Mark Peter and Seldon Totsch were excused. Also present was Ryan Niekamp. Becky Weed and John Simon were present via ZOOM.

All bills were reviewed and appeared to be in order.

Our committee approved minutes of November 17, 2020 meeting with one correction. 

Motion by Steve DeMoss / Second Becky Weed.

Sheriff Dept – Written Report from Sheriff Wagner

• The current jail population is 80 males and 39 females for a total of 119.

• The DOC accepted 38 inmates at Statesville. There are 18 DOC inmates left in the population.

• There are currently no employees or inmates with COVID.

• Struther Wand has been hired as a Court Security Officer.

• Ian Jones has been hired as a Deputy Sheriff

• Taylor Leszkai and John Jackson have been hired as Corrections Officers. 

• The Sheriff’s office has begun drafting new policy and procedures manuals.

Emergency Management – John Simon via ZOOM

• 1,000 doses of COVID vaccine arrived today and will be dispensed to critical health care workers immediately.

• COVID testing continues at the SHOPKO site. They will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day but will reopen after Christmas.

• They tested 800 people today. They are experiencing approximately a 10% positivity rate. 

• As of Monday, they have performed over 25,000 COVID tests.

• They will continue to operate the testing site so long as there is a demand for it. 

• Construction has begun on the new building expansion. They expect to have the building completed shortly after Christmas.

Coroner — Written Report from Scott Graham

For the Month of November 2020

• There were 98 reported deaths.

• There were six autopsies.

• There were no unclaimed/indigent cremations.

• There were 49 cremation permits issued.

• There were no suicides.

• The Coroner has moved into their new office in the former Credit Union space.
