Call to Order and Roll Call

The Southeastern Community Unit District #337 Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, January 25, 2021 in the Board of Education Office (Room #126) in Augusta, Illinois. John Eilers, Board President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Roll Call verified that there was a quorum of the Board of Education with the following members present and absent as listed below:

Approval of Agenda Items

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education approved the agenda items as presented.

Approval of Minutes

On a motion by Member O’Neal and a second by Member Winters, the Board of Education approved the minutes from the December 14, 2020 regular meeting and closed session as presented. Roll Call Vote:

Special Recognition

Superintendent Fox presented the update on the Board Excellence site recognizing the October through January Sun of the Month.

Financial

Superintendent Fox presented the monthly financial snapshot showing we are 50% into the fiscal year. We have received 74% of our budgeted revenue and have spent 45% of budgeted expenditures.

On a motion by Member Winters and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education approved the bills, financial statements, and activity funds.

Informational Items

Superintendent Fox presented the COVID-19 update which included IDPH/ISBE guidelines, IHSA/IESA guidelines, vaccination, ESSER II funds, Remote Learning and the school day length.

Superintendent Fox reviewed the current Enrollment numbers for Southeastern.

Superintendent Fox reviewed the Seniority Lists.

Superintendent Fox discussed the FY22 Transportation regarding bus stops and shuttles. Superintendent Fox discussed the 2021 School Board Election.

Action Items

On a motion by Member Winters and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education approved the deposit account agreement and investment agreement with Bowen Bank of Advance effective February 1, 2021 through January 31, 2022.

On a motion by Member O’Neal and a second by Member Winters, the Board of Education approved the football cooperative sports agreement with West Prairie High School for the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 school year.

On a motion by Member Smith and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education approved the transition of exterminating services to Beck Pest Control, Inc. effective immediately. Roll Call Vote:

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education accepted the resignation of Keela Whewell at the end of the 2023-2024 school year for the purpose of retirement. Roll Call Vote:

On a motion by Member Smith and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education approved the employment of Trisha Weese in the position of paraprofessional effective January 20, 2021. Roll Call Vote:

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education approved the employment of Molly Milby in the position of substitute bus driver.

On a motion by Member O’Neal and a second by Member Winters, the Board of Education approved the employment of Beth McMillen in the position of substitute bus driver.

On a motion by Member Smith and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education moved into closed session at 7:51 p.m. for the purpose of the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity; and for collective negotiating matters between the school board and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees.
