BLESSING HEALTH SYSTEM: Recent nursing school graduate earns Honey Bee award

Award

Blessing Health System issued the following announcement on Sept. 30.

Bridget O’Bryan, RN, became the hospital’s 25th Honey Bee Award winner during a surprise presentation on September 29, 2020. Bridget received the award for care she delivered when working as a CNA, before passing her NCLEX and becoming an RN.

The Blessing Hospital Honey Bee award recognizes the remarkable patient experience delivered by support staff employees.

Bridget was nominated by the daughter of a woman for whom she provided care. The nomination read, in part:

“My mom said Bridget never hesitated to help, never made it seem like she was too busy even though we know it’s a busy time. Bridget followed through on every promise,” the daughter wrote.

“Having someone like Bridget, who can take care of your family member who is in the hospital alone almost 20 hours out of the day because of restrictions, puts my sister and my mind at ease. Bridget has been assigned to mom’s care on 3 different occasions now and mom firmly believes it is God putting Bridget in her life,” the nomination continued.

“I really hope Bridget is able to see this nomination to know we wish her the best in her nursing career because she truly was the best caregiver for my mom. We can’t thank her enough,” the woman concluded.

The Honey Bee Award complements the hospital’s DAISY Award. While the DAISY Award is for RNs, the Honey Bee Award is for support staff because, “you can’t have daisies without outstanding honey bees.”

Each Honey Bee Award honoree is recognized during a presentation. They receive a certificate, a tray of sticky buns, cookies and a jar of local honey. The local honey signifies the role support staff plays in extraordinary patient care and customer service; they are the “sticky” honey that binds us together.

Honey Bee award nomination forms are located on all nursing units and other locations throughout Blessing Hospital.
