John Wood Community College Finance and Audit Committee met Feb. 19.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

The Finance and Audit Committee met at 4:30 p.m., at John Wood Community College. Present were Bob Rhea and Andy Sprague; trustees, Josh Welker; Dean of Business Services & Institutional Effectiveness, Mike Elbe; president, Susan Fifer, director of fiscal services, and Jenny Venvertloh; note taker.

• Bills for Payment - The bills were reviewed and will be recommended for payment.

• Approval of Out of District Travel – The committee reviewed the out of district travel forms that have been submitted and recommended them for approval. There was discussion regarding the registration fees for various conferences.

• Financials – There are two sets of financials which include December and January due to no Board meeting in January. The financials were reviewed and will be recommended for approval.

• Review & Discuss Investments - The investment report was reviewed.

• Board Items

o Solar Heat and Solar Photovoltaic Trainer – The recommendation is to authorize acceptance of the bid and award to Advanced Technologies, in the amount of $27,567.00.

o Consultants to Support Water Nexus Program – The recommendation is to authorize acceptance of the bid and award to THG Advisors, in the amount of $119,235.00.

o Auditorium Sound System – The recommendation is to authorize acceptance of the bid and award to LiveSpace in the amount of $41,956.75.

o Audit Agreement – The recommendation is to retain WIPFLi, LLP for an additional two years to audit financial statements of the College.

•Other

o There are some IGEN grants going to the Board. One will be to submit an application as well as accept funding for the same grant. There was a small window where the grant became available and when we were awarded the money. This will be used for solar panels at the Workforce Development Center. We are also requesting grant funds to do the solar panels at the Ag Center.

o A tax appeal from Pike County was reviewed.

o A personnel item was discussed.
