Central Community Unit School District 3 Board met Feb. 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education met at 6:30 p.m. on February 20, 2020, for their regular meeting at Central Board of Education Office located in Camp Point.

President Marlow called the meeting to order and guests were introduced: Rebekah Wintjen, Teri Kestner, and students from John Wood Education Class: Lauren Gille, Kendra Obert, Kailyn Mast, Paige Snyder, Mykah Hurley, Francesca Pannell and Tadym Mason. Eric Meyer arrived at 7:20.

Rebekah Wintjen, 7th/8th grade social studies teacher, presented information on possible field trip to Washingtion DC. She is looking at fundraising options to help fund the trip. The board is considering her proposal.

President Marlow asked if there were any questions and/or comments from the public. Hearing none, the meeting continued.

The current agenda was approved.

Committee Action Items

Building

· The committee did not meet this month.

• Superintendent Smith updated the board on the School Maintenance Project Grant Application. The grant will match up to $50,000. Bleachers in the high school gym will be replaced with this money and burners for the boilers at the junior high school.

Policy

· There are no new policy updates at this time.

Finance

· The committee will discuss the 2020-2021 fee schedule at their next meeting.

Curriculum

· The Curriculum Meeting was cancelled due to the weather. The next meeting will be March 11th.

Old Business

• A thank you note was read from the family of Galen Conkright for the flowers sent for his mother’s funeral.

· A thank you note was read from Kirk & Barb Gauldin for the Christmas ham.

• The board approved the second reading and adoption of the Certified/Support Staff seniority list.

New Business

· The board approved the 2020-2021 school calendar.

· The board was notified of a FOIA request from SmartProcure.

Superintendent Report

· Mrs. Smith attended the WAS Insurance meeting.

· Bid information for busses is still being gathered.

· Mrs. Smith will be attending a Legal Seminar held by SMN law firm on March 5th.

· The last attendance day for students will be May 26th and May 27th for teachers.

¬ Wrestlers advanced to Sectionals: Zach Foote, Clayton Boehler, Conner Hughes, and Hunter Louderback.

¬ Central High School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) participated in the Western Area State Leadership Conference at Western Illinois University. These students are now eligible to compete at the State FBLA Leadership Conference, which is scheduled in Springfield, IL, on April 3 – 4, 2020.

*First place: Lindsey Hoener in Introduction to Information Technology, Eli Ripperda in Securities and Investments, and Dacey Shore in Spreadsheet Applications.

*Second place: Avalynn Bangert in Management Decision Making, Ripley Echternkamp in Introduction to Business, Zach Foote in Business Calculations, and Logan Tullock in Personal Finance.

*Third place: Haley Beckman in Journalism, Jaden Cassens in Computer Applications, Haley Cramer in Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure, Mason Holloway in Introduction to Financial Math, Caylee Hughes in Introduction to Business Communication, Libby Ippensen in Introduction to Business Procedures, Davin Meier in Entrepreneurship, and Julia Ruffcorn in Business Communication.
