Curriculum Report

 The district admin. team (CES, CMS, & CJHS) have decided that we have two urgencies. We need an ELA curriculum that connects the grade levels, and we need to find a universal screener for K-8. We are now researching, getting quotes, reaching out to other districts, and collaborating with the district curriculum team of teachers to finalize our needs.

 Wayne Krus - Central Junior High

 Mrs. Cramer and Mr. Krus are working with the staff to get IAR and ISA schedules set for March.

 Central staff and Mr. Krus are working on Academic Contracts. These are contracts based on meetings and discussions with parents, the student, and the teachers in a group effort to get students passing and to the next grade level.

 5 Essential Surveys are being done by the teachers, parents, and students.

 Mrs. Jones is leading a book study with 5 teachers. The book is called Teach Like a Champion 2.0. Teachers will read the book, watch videos, and have discussions each Wednesday for twelve weeks.

Upcoming Events

 2/17 NO SCHOOL

 Martin Cook - Central High School

 On December 20th, our CNA Pinning ceremony was held in the auditorium. Nurse Jenny and JWCC pinned five students: Brooke Barlow, Victoria Louderback, Travis Rigg, Hayden Stoneking, and Kylie Wilson and presented them with their CNA certificates from JWCC.

 Later this month I’ll have the high school students and staff take the 5 Essentials Survey for the state board in order to gather feedback on their opinions and feelings about their high school. I’ll also be sending out information asking for parents to complete the survey. The state needs 20% of parents to respond to the survey in order to get feedback. We currently are sitting on 17% responses from parents.

 We are currently working on setting up computer lab time for additional mandated state testing for high school science. This year all of our juniors will now have to take three 40-minute science assessments.

 The second round of practice SAT tests will take place in mid-February with 35 students signed up.

 There will be a SAT homeroom this semester for students to work on their individual SAT practice questions on Monday-Wednesday each week. If they do this, then Thursday and Friday they will have free time in the auditorium each week.

 Our staff will be working on updating the high school bulletin boards in the hallways this month. We are doing this to promote more of the academic side of high school for students, parents, and visitors to see as they walk through our school.
