BLESSING HEALTH SYSTEM: Blessing Hospital nurses retires

Blessing Health System issued the following announcement on Dec. 19.

Krista White, LPN, and Cynthia Smith, RN, BSN, retired from Blessing Hospital on December 20, 2019, after a combined 85 years of service.

White, of the Surgical PREP Clinic, retired after 45 years of service. A graduate of John Wood Community College and Central High School, Camp Point, White worked at the former St. Mary Hospital in Quincy before joining the Blessing Hospital staff in 1993. During her Blessing career, she worked in One Day Surgery before joining the Surgical PREP Clinic staff. White is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Smith, of One Day Surgery, retired after 40 years of service. A graduate of the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, Smith worked in Philippine General Hospital, Manila, from 1977-1979. She joined the Blessing Hospital nursing staff in 1979, providing care on a medical/surgical floor until joining the One Day Surgery department in 1984. Smith is a member of the American Society and Illinois Society of Perianesthesia Nursing and volunteers as a parish nurse at St. Francis Solanus Church, Quincy.
