Blessing Health System issued the following announcement on Dec. 13.

Angie Klinner, RN, Adult Psychiatric Services, Blessing Behavioral Center, became the 46th Blessing nurse to receive the international DAISY Award during a ceremony on December 10.

Through the DAISY award program, patients or their family members, visitors, doctors, hospital staff members or volunteers may recognize the extraordinary care provided by nurses.

Angie was nominated by a person who had never been a Blessing Behavioral Center patient, but had a negative experience during a hospitalization at another provider.

“I was not calm when I arrived. Angela could tell and treated me caringly and friendly, and explained everything to me. She made me feel at ease in a new situation, in a new hospital when I didn’t want to be a patient. She calmed my nerves and made me realize that she and the other staff were there to help me and would keep me safe. Angela introduced me to Blessing with kindness and caring I had never before received. She is an amazing nurse, kind and caring, knowledgeable, friendly and naturally calming,” the nomination read.

DAISY stands for “Diseases Attacking the Immune System.” The family of a 33-year- old man, who died of an immune system disorder, began the program in 1999 to honor his memory by recognizing extraordinary nurses everywhere who make a difference in the lives of people by the work they do every day. More than 1,900 healthcare providers worldwide participate in the DAISY Award program.

DAISY award nomination forms are located on all nursing units throughout Blessing Hospital, other locations on the 11th Street campus and online here.
