Superintendent’s Comments:

Bad weather is coming!

Please make sure you have all the right phone numbers in Schoolmessenger. With winter weather approaching, and in some cases already here, we want to make sure you are contacted when school is cancelled.

Report Card Time!

This is the time of year that the school board approves the annual report cards for the elementary, junior high and high school, and the district. A snapshot of these are available on our website. However, to see the entire document with multiple dashboards, go to www.ISBE and look for the interactive report cards. Then specify Liberty Elementary, Liberty High School, or Liberty CUSD 2. There is an abundance of information about the district from demographics, assessments, financials, teacher information, etc.

One last time

The final reading of the Vehicle Use policy will be presented and then adopted. This will be implemented for new drivers in second semester, and then everyone for the 2020-21 school year.

Tax Levy

At this school board meeting an estimate of the tax levy is presented and decided on. Then the official tax levy will be voted on in December and then taken to the County Clerk for submission. Lots of time and energy is put into this so the tax payers are not overburdened, but also to collect the maximum amount a school can have in each of the set funds. It really does take a huge local commitment to run a school. Half of the Liberty School District budget comes from our local community members through taxes. THANK YOU for everything you do for our school!!!

Be Safe

The Chorus Room is getting a new door. The current door barely locks and can easily be opened by an intruder. This must be corrected to keep our teacher and students safe! The cost of the new door is covered by Tort Funds, but more importantly insures that the Chorus Room can be properly locked up and all contents inside are safe!

Be Thankful

With all the challenges in the world and all the issues many people in our school community are facing, take time to reflect and be thankful for family, friends, children, caring coworkers, and above all, for the gifts you have been given and the ability to use them to be your best! Happy Thanksgiving Liberty School Family!
