Adams County Board Public Health & Safety Committee met July 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Committee members present: Marvin Kerkoff, Mark Peters, Seldon Totch, Robert Reich and Becky Weed

Special Guests: Ryan Niekamp, Gary Farha and Sue Hester

Guest Speakers: Michael Schutte and Leroy Klauser

Spoke on Concerns about a nuesance property.

 Committee moved to refer the property address to Jeff Mays to send a city inspector out to assess the situation.

 Committee also moved to refer to Legislative and Judicial Committee to review existing code for possible revisions and possible new code.

All bills were reviewed and appeared to be in order.

Our committee approved minutes of June 18, 2019 meeting

Department / Representatives:

Sheriff Dept – Rich Wagner

 Jail population continues to hold steady.

 3 New Corrections officers were hired and will start training for the new jail. These positions were budgetted.

 We do now have a few inmates qualified for work release in last couple of weeks.

Emergency Management – John Simon

 Continue to collect flood numbers. Sand bag operation: $132K Emergency Response, $78K Debris Removal, $126.5K Road Repairs $337K total ($3.1 Million Totals County Wide)

Coroner — John Myers sent written report via email

 There were 80 reported deaths in the month of June 2019.

 There were a total of two autopsies in the month of June 2019.

 There werenoo indigent Cremations in the month of June2019.

 There were 32 cremation permits issued in the month of May 2019.

 Therre were an average of 35 crematons permits issued monthly this FY2019.

Sue Hester

 Reported that she is working on the Employee Handbook and hopes to have the final draft available to approve at the October 2019 County Board Meeting and ready for use starting 1/1/20.

 Discussed December Open Enrollment for health insurance for a January Effective Date.

Our meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday August 20, 2019 at 7pm in the Law Library
