Blessing Health System issued the following announcement on July 18.
Blessing President and Chief Executive Officer Maureen Kahn presented $25,000 to Horizons Social Services Executive Director Sarah Stephens on Monday, July 15, to sponsor the 2019 Moonlight Ride for Hunger. All proceeds from the event benefit the work the Horizons Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry.
The Moonlight Ride for Hunger will be held August 17 from 8-11:30 pm. It is a bicycle ride across both Mississippi River bridges in Quincy at night to raise funds to help those facing hunger. All proceeds from the event benefit the work the Horizons Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry. Last year, Horizon's served 35,300 meals from its soup kitchen and assisted 12,300 people from its food pantry.
“I believe Horizons and Blessing Health System share a similar mission and achieve that mission in much the same way,” said Maureen Kahn, RN, MHA, MSN, president/chief executive officer, Blessing Health System/Blessing Hospital. “By making true human connections with those who come to use for help, we meet the needs of their bodies, minds and spirits. It is a natural fit for Blessing to support Horizon’s work by sponsoring this wonderfully unique event.”
“We are excited to announce Blessing Health System's sponsorship of this fun, family event," said Sarah Stephens of Horizons. "Our partnership is only fitting, as we have a shared mission to bring health to our community.”
