Blessing Health System issued the following announcement on July 2.
Julie Cassens, RN, BSN, and Diane Lahr, RN, BSN, outpatient care coordinators, Blessing Hospital, have earned national certifications.
Cassens earned Certified Diabetic Educator (CDE) status from the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators. A CDE demonstrates knowledge of and experience in diabetes prevention, prediabetes, and diabetes management to educate, support, and advocate for people affected by diabetes, addressing the stages of diabetes throughout the lifespan. The CDE promotes self-management to achieve individualized behavioral and treatment goals that reduce risks and improve and individual’s health.
Cassens also holds the status of Certified Case Manager. She provides care at the East Adams County Rural Health Clinic, Golden, IL, a service of Blessing Health System. A graduate of the Culver-Stockton College/Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Cassens is a 25-year member of the Blessing staff and a resident of Loraine, IL.
Lahr earned Certified Case Manager (CCM) status from the national Commission for Case Manager Certification by meeting the prerequisites and passing a written examination.
A CCM is a health professional who has the expertise, knowledge, and professional experience to direct patients with serious or complex medical conditions, and/or catastrophic injuries and illnesses to the healthcare services they need.
Lahr serves patients at the Kahoka Medical Clinic, Kahoka, MO, a service of Blessing Physician Services. She is an eight-year member of the Blessing staff and a resident of LaGrange, Missouri.
Lahr earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing and Health Sciences. She also holds a degree from Culver-Stockton College.
