Former state university employee Mohr paid in $14K to pension fund, could collect $270K in retirement

Former state university employee Carol Mohr, who retired in June 2017, saved $14,397 toward a pension over 12 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Mohr would collect as much as $269,627, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Quincy Reporter.

The projection assumes Mohr received $5,667 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 3 years of retirement, Mohr will have already received $17,516 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
