Central Community Unit School District 3 Board met October 18. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

The Board of Education met at 7:00 p.m. on October 18, 2018, for their regular meeting at Central High School located in Camp Point.


Following the prayer and pledge, Vice President Cramer called the meeting to order and guests were introduced: Brianna Hildebrand, and Val Flynn from Zumbahlen, Eyth, Surratt, Foote & Flynn who presented the 2017-18 District Audit.

Vice President Cramer asked if there were any questions and/or comments from the public. Hearing none, the meeting continued. The current agenda was approved.

Action by Consent Agenda

The following was approved as presented:

      • September 20, 2018 Board Meeting Minutes

      • Approval of October Bills

      • Treasurer’s Report

Committee Action Items Building

      • The committee met on October 16th.

      • The JH Entrance has been approved by IDOT.

      • Partition doors are being considered in the south cafeteria. 

Policy

      • The board approved the first reading of revised policy 2:242.

Finance

      • The tax levy will be presented at the November board meeting.

Curriculum

      • The Curriculum Committee met on October 11th.

         Items of Discussion:

          CES: Committee goals, RTI, PBIS and Curriculum

          CMS: Multiplication facts, Curriculum Guide update

          CJHS: Panther GEMS – “Girls Excelling in Math Science”

          CHS: Transitional Math class at JWCC for Seniors, Reading non-fiction passages in all classrooms

Old Business 

      • “Thank you” to Central High School Alumni for their donation of three interactive SMART televisions.

New Business 

      • None at this time.

Superintendent Report 

      • Parent teacher conferences will be on November 1st and 2nd.

      • The fall blood drive will be in the IRC October 31st.

      • Teacher observations are in the process.

      • Principals presented their School Improvement goals for 2018/2019.

           Oct. 23 - First Grade travels to Quincy Comm Theater to watch Witches.

           Oct. 25 - Mobile Dentist

           Oct. 26 - Kindergarten visits Mill Creek Pumpkin Patch

           Oct. 29 - Book Fair Week

           Nov 5 - PTO Meeting

      • Chevi Ingalls- Central Middle School

            Oct. 19- End of 1st Quarter

            Oct. 21/22/23- “Lead the Way” IPA Fall Conference

            Oct. 23- The Witches at Quincy Community Theater for 3rd/4th grade

            Oct. 24- Special Olympics Leadership Assembly

            Oct. 25- Mobile Dentist

            Oct. 26- Report Cards

            Oct. 26- Quest until 4:30

            Oct. 29-Nov. 2- Book Fair

             Oct. 31- PBIS Celebration

             Oct. 31- Visiting Golden Good Shepherd and singing songs they have learned in music class.

             Oct. 31- Fall Party

             Nov. 1 & 2- Parent Teacher Conference

             Nov. 1- Picture Retakes

             Nov. 1- Blessing- No Tobacco for 4th grade assembly

             Nov. 5- PTO meeting

      • Erica Smith - Central Junior High

             Oct. 24 will be our first PBIS meeting this year. We’ll be planning the Operation Appreciation event to prepare for “Bring a Vet to School”.

             Oct. 26 - Mobile Dentist

             Nov. 1 & 2 - Parent Teacher Conferences - Students and parents can also pick up their cookie dough and popcorn at this time.

             Our fundraiser grossed about $24,000 this year. That is around $9,600 profit.

      • Martin Cook- Central High School

             Congratulations to Noah Strohkirch for being selected as October Senior of the Month.

             Oct. 26 - Report Cards

             Nov. 6 - DOT Foods will be presenting on employment opportunities
