City of Quincy issued the following announcement on Oct. 24.

Here are some of the things that were discussed at this week’s City Council meeting.

1. The Fire Chief received City Council approval for the low proposal from Sentinel Emergency Solutions to purchase 38 Self Contained Breathing Apparatus and necessary accessories. SCBA provide a continuous supply of clean air to firefighters in burning or smoke-filled buildings.

2. The City Council heard the first reading of an Ordinance in Connection with Rights and Responsibilities Related to Locally Imposed and Administered Taxes. This ordinance is designed to keep the City up-to-date with best practices, and is not adding a new tax.

3. Chip Owen with The District spoke to the Council regarding an upcoming event, “Light the Park.” Santa and a few of his friends will be in Washington Park on Saturday, November 24th at 6 pm for the annual park lighting event. The District encourages everyone to come out and enjoy free hot chocolate and cookies, and to visit Santa in his new house. Please check out The District’s Facebook page for more information.

Please visit the City’s website to review City Council agendas prior to each week’s meeting, and to watch both current and previous City Council meetings. City Council meetings are also rebroadcast during the week on Comcast channel 15 and Adams channel 19.
