City of Quincy issued the following announcement on Oct. 13.
Please be advised that effective immediately, South 8th Street between Illinois Highway 57 and Klondike Road is closed to through traffic. The road is expected to open to traffic on Friday, October 19, 2018.
The roadway has been closed to allow for the emergency repair of a section of collapsed shoulder south of April Avenue.
Motorists are reminded to drive carefully near the construction work zone and to use an alternate travel route when possible.
