Bluecross Blueshield Association issued the following announcement on Aug. 23.
The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) will present the Healthcare Breakthrough Award as part of the Not Impossible Awards show at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES® 2019) in January 2019.
The Healthcare Breakthrough Award recognizes the ground-breaking technology created by individuals to improve the health, wellbeing and lives of others. Last year’s winner, Dr. Patrick Bordnick, developed a program that uses virtual reality to create a personalized treatment plan to help teach patients coping strategies for substance use disorders and other behavioral conditions.
“The technology being developed in healthcare today has the absolute power to change and save lives,” said Scott Serota, president and CEO of BCBSA. “The Healthcare Breakthrough Award highlights outstanding innovators, bringing their brilliant ideas center stage and making dreams a reality for so many. We’re excited to work with Not Impossible Labs for a second year in a row to improve health and well-being in communities across the country.”
Recipients of the Healthcare Breakthrough Award will receive mentorship from BCBSA and Not Impossible Labs, and the winner will be recognized at an awards show during CES® 2019, which takes place Jan. 9 through Jan. 11 in Las Vegas, Nev.
