Report: Payson spent $7,975 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Payson Community Unit School District 1 is down 18 percent from five years ago, according to a Quincy Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Adams County school district spent $9,741 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $7,975 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 513 to 554.

Payson's spending in 2016-17 was 39 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
