Mary Miller, a representative for Illinois Congressional District 15, said that President Trump and his administration are defending the privacy of children nationwide. Miller made this comment in a Facebook post on March 27.
"President Trump is boldly standing up for the safety and privacy of our daughters, now Congress must do the same," said Miller, U.S. Representative, according to Facebook. "Female-only spaces exist for a reason, and no girl should ever be put in an unsafe or uncomfortable situation. My bill ensures public schools follow the law—or lose federal funding."
According to Miller, after an incident at Deerfield 109 School District’s Alan B. Shepard Middle School, where a student was allegedly required to change for physical education in front of a biological male student identifying as a transgender girl, Congress must codify President Trump's executive order banning transgender athletes from competing in female sports. She announced her intention to file a bill named the Keep Our Girls Safe Act in a March 22 Facebook post. In that post, she emphasized the need to codify President Trump's protections into law and hold public schools accountable.

The executive order referred to by Miller is titled "Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports," signed by President Trump on February 5. The order states that allowing men to compete in women’s sports is demeaning, unfair, and dangerous to women and girls, denying them equal opportunity to participate and excel in competitive sports. It mandates the Secretary of Education to take appropriate action to protect all-female athletic opportunities and locker rooms, ensuring the equal opportunity guaranteed by Title IX. The order also stipulates that funding will be rescinded from programs that do not comply.
Miller's bill, a draft of which was obtained by Fox News, aims to ensure compliance with Title IX by stipulating that locker room facilities in active use in connection with an educational program or activity may only be used by individuals of the same sex, as determined solely by reproductive biology and genetics at birth. The bill includes a clause that would put the Act into effect within 30 days of its enactment.
Mary Miller succeeded John Shimkus in representing Illinois' 15th Congressional District since 2021. Born in Oak Park, Illinois, in 1959 and holding a Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Illinois University, she resides with her husband in Oakland, Illinois. They manage their fourth-generation family farm. Miller is also noted as a mother of seven children and grandmother to twenty grandchildren.
