Both the Illinois House and Senate are scheduled to reconvene in Springfield next week for the fall Veto Session. This session is a critical time for lawmakers to address any vetoes issued by the governor on legislation passed earlier in the year.
The Veto Session provides an opportunity for legislators to reconsider bills that were rejected or amended by the governor. During this period, they can attempt to override vetoes with a three-fifths majority vote in both chambers.
