FOIA Request Sent to Adams County Regarding Vendor Payments on September 26, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Adams County on September 26, 2024. The request, made by Quincy Reporter, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, seeks information regarding vendor payments made from January 1, 2024, till the date of the request.

The specifics of the request include a list of all payments to vendors within the specified period with details such as vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and amount. This information is sought under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.

At Quincy Reporter, we believe that access to public records is crucial for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As such, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional in line with our role in disseminating information.

In related news, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced in July 2023 an extensive multi-year program called Rebuild Illinois aimed at improving and repairing all modes of transportation. Governor JB Pritzker stated that over $40 billion would be invested over six years into enhancing roads and bridges, modernizing transit and aviation, and expanding passenger rail service.

According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, ten major projects are being planned or implemented in Chicago under this program. A total investment of $396 million is being directed towards these projects for safety and mobility improvements on Illinois's roads and bridges. Three projects are slated for completion in 2024 while seven others are projected for completion between 2025 through 2030.

Furthermore, Kane County will see an investment of $107 million in seven projects under the Rebuild Illinois program. In central Cook County, ten projects will receive a total investment of $220 million for road and bridge construction.
