John Wood Community College Finance & Audit Committee met Nov. 8.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The Finance Committee met on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., at John Wood Community College. Present were Randy Greenwell; trustee, Josh Welker; Dean of Business Services & Institutional Effectiveness, Dr. Bryan Renfro; president, Nora Klingele; director of fiscal services, Madelyn Haley; manager of accounting services, and Jenny Venvertloh; note taker. Also attending was Josh Faivre, auditor with WIPFLi via Zoom.

1. Josh Faivre gave an overview of the audit. The audit will be presented at the Board of Trustees meeting this month.

2. Bills for Payment - The bills were reviewed and will be recommended for payment.

3. Out of District Travel Requests – The committee reviewed the out of district travel forms that were submitted and recommended them for approval.

4. Financials - The financials were reviewed and will be recommended for approval.

5. Board Budget – The board budget was reviewed.

6. Review & Discuss Investments - The investment report was reviewed.

7. Board Items

• Tax Levy –A Resolution Regarding the Truth in Taxation Act is being taken to the Board to adopt. The 2023 tax levy will not exceed 105% of the 2022 tax levy.

• Audit – The 2023 audit will be presented.

• PHS Projects – A resolution to levy tax for Protection, Health, and Safety projects was discussed. The projects include a heat pump replacement at the ag center and vestibule stairs and handrail replacement at the main campus totaling $125,000.

• The College requested bids to provide a piping trainer for the industrial maintenance program. One bid was received. It is recommended that the Board of Trustees accept the proposal and award to Advanced Technologies Consultants in the amount of $27,989.28.

• The College requested bids to provide a hydraulics trainer for the industrial maintenance program. One bid was received. It is recommended that the Board of Trustees accept the proposal and award to Advanced Technologies Consultants in the amount of $37,128.39.

• The College requested bids to provide a pneumatics trainer for the industrial maintenance program. One bid was received. It is recommended that the Board of Trustees accept the proposal and award to Advanced Technologies Consultants in the amount of $11,509.68.

• The College requested bids to provide a single pump system trainer for the industrial maintenance program. One bid was received. It is recommended that the Board of Trustees accept the proposal and award to Advanced Technologies Consultants in the amount of $21,580.64.

• The College requested proposal for copiers. Two proposals were received. It is recommended that the Board of Trustees accept the proposal and award to Watts Copy System for a 60-month lease in the amount of $3,803.94 per month.

• Two Rivers Regional Council of Public Officers (TRRCOPO) has requested a lease agreement at the Mt. Sterling Education Center. It is recommended that the Board of Trustees authorize to enter into a one (1) year lease agreement with TRRCOPO.
