Call to Order and Roll Call

The Southeastern Community Unit District #337 Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, May 15, 2023 in the Board of Education Office (Room #126) in Augusta, Illinois. Bobbi Smith, Board President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Roll Call verified that there was a quorum of the Board of Education with the following members present and absent as listed below:

Approval of Minutes

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Bunnell, the Board of Education approved the minutes from the May 8, 2023 special meeting.

Public Participation

Special Recognition

Superintendent Fox gave update on the Board Excellence featuring May Co-Sun of the Month, IJAS State Science Fair awards and monetary awards, National Cyber Scholars, IESA State Track Qualifier.

Financial

Superintendent Fox reviewed the monthly financial snapshot which shows we are 83% into the fiscal year. We have received 99% of budgeted revenue and have spent 86% of the budgeted expenditures. Expenditures for each of the ESSER grants (I, II, and III) were reviewed.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Bunnell, the Board of Education approved the bills, financial statements, and activity funds.

Informational Items

Superintendent Fox reviewed the tax computation sheets for the 2022 tax year.

Superintendent Fox explained the Teacher Pipeline Grant.

Superintendent Fox went over the capital projects fund.

Superintendent Fox discussed the ISBE Maintenance Grant.

Superintendent Fox presented the district nurse report.

Superintendent Fox talked about the district auditor for the annual financial report.

Superintendent Fox discussed the sports cooperatives.

No Administrative reports were given.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Bunnell, the Board of Education moved into closed session at 7:58 p.m. for the collective negotiating matters between the school board and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules, for one or more classes of employees, and the selection of person to fill a vacancy on the school board, or the discipline, performance or removal of the occupant of a public office, when the public body is given power to remove the occupant under law or ordinance. Roll Call Vote:

Aye: Smith, Stevens, Tippey, Bunnell, Holst

Nay: None

Absent: Kearby

The Board of Education returned to Open Session at 8:36 p.m.

Action Items

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Stevens, the Board of Education approved the superintendent to advertise for bid openings for milk, bread and fuel for the 2023- 2024 school year.

On a motion by Member Stevens and a second by Member Bunnell, the Board of Education approved the 2023 summer technology expenditures as presented.

The board tabled the 2023 summer maintenance expenditures.

On a motion by Member Stevens and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education voted to adjourn the meeting at 8:39 p.m.
