Hawks Fall in MIVA Play to Lions

 The Quincy University Men's Volleyball team traveled down to St Charles on Saturday (March 18th) to play against the Lindenwood University Lions in MIVA play. The Hawks would lose this one (25-16), (25-15), (25-21). 

1st Set 

The Lions got the first two points of the game, but a Raje Alleyne kill would give the Hawks their first point of the game. Roman Deryckere would get a kill to bring the Hawks within three points making the score 7-4. QU would put up a fight but end up losing the first set 25-16. Raje Alleyne would lead the Hawks with 5 kills in the first set. 

2nd Set

Quincy would get the first point in the second set on a kill by Raje Alleyne, and after Lindenwood tied it up Keegan Carey would get a kill to give QU the early 2-1 lead. The Lions would have a 6-3 lead early but after 2 Lion errors, a kill by Eddie Jakubauskas would tie the game at 6-6. The Hawks would later take a 9-8 lead on another Lindenwood error, but LU would go on a seven point run to make it a 15-9 game, Quincy could not catch back up and lose the set 25-15. 

3rd Set

The Hawks would battle in the third set, going back and forth with the Lions early on in the set. Quincy would cut the lead to 1 several times throughout the set but could never fully catch up as they lost a close one 25-21. Eddie Jakubauskas would rack up four kills in the set for the Hawks, while Raje Alleyne would get 6 kills in the final set. 

Raje Alleyne would finish the game with 14 kills, this makes him the current leader in kills on the season in the conference.

Quincy will be back in action on Friday (March 24) as they travel to Muncie, Indiana to play against Ball State University. Game is set to start at 3:00 pm.
