Hawks Win Regular Season Finale on Last Second Shot
In the final game of the regular season, the Hawks were needing a win to have hopes of qualifying for the conference tournament. The contest against the Rockhurst University Hawks on Saturday (February 25th) afternoon came down to the final tenths of a second.
With 1.4 seconds left, Grace Flanagan inbounded the ball to senior forward Sarah Nelson at the free throw line. Nelson turned and got the shot off in time with a friendly bounce to win the game by the score of 65-63.
Nelson led the Hawks in scoring with 21 points on 7 of 11 from the field. Emma Knipe chipped in 14 points and pulled down 8 rebounds. Matas Martin and Flanagan were also in double figures with 11 and 10 points apiece.
For the game, QU shot 21 of 48 from the field, 6 of 12 from beyond the arc and 17 of 24 from the free throw line.
