Illinois state Sen. Jil Tracy (R-Quincy) is looking ahead to the new General Assembly as she was sworn in for another term serving constituents of the 50th District.

Tracy welcomed the next chapter as a state legislator in a January 11 news release

“The convening of a new two-year General Assembly is a time to learn from the past, renew our commitment to face current challenges, and welcome the opportunities awaiting Illinois," she wrote in the release. "Make no mistake. Lawmakers have our work cut out for us, and some of the decisions will be tough. It is my hope that Senate members decide now to work together rather than getting mired in partisan bickering.”

Tracy was first elected to the state Senate in November 2016. According to her legislative website, she also previously served in The Illinois House of Representatives from 2006-2014.

Tracy ran unopposed for the newly drawn 50th Senate District during the November 2022 general election, according to The Chicago Tribune

Back in November, Tracy spoke about the new district she now represents. "I call it an envelope flip," she told the My Journal Courier. "The flap used to be facing up, but now it's facing down. I have already represented Cass and Schuyler counties. We live in Quincy, but our family base is in Mount Sterling, and we've been very close to Morgan and Pike counties."
