Mary Ripper, outpatient clinical therapist, Integrated Care, became Blessing Hospital’s 49th Honey Bee award winner during a presentation on November 2. The Blessing Hospital Honey Bee award recognizes the exceptional service provided by support staff.
A patient of the Blessing Cancer Center nominated Mary for the care she provided. The patient lives out of town and stayed in Quincy for nearly six weeks for daily radiation therapy treatments. Mary helped the patient arrange lodging at the Quincy Hospitality House, and she arranged volunteer opportunities for the patient – in their areas of expertise – to keep them occupied and engaged during their time in Quincy. The nomination read in part:
“By encouraging me to become engaged with the Quincy community in ways much like I do in my hometown, Mary truly helped me navigate a difficult time, both physically and emotionally, during my time living alone in Quincy receiving treatment.”
Honey Bee award nomination forms are located on all nursing units and other locations throughout Blessing Hospital.
