Hawks Advance to Super-Regional with Win over Davenport

The Quincy University Baseball team wrapped up NCAA Midwest Regional #1 action in the programs' third regional championship game against the top-seeded Davenport University Panthers. The Hawks advance to the Super-Regional round on Friday (5/27) and Saturday (5/28) with a 9-7 win.

In the top of the 1st, Gino D'Alessio got the scoring started with an RBI single up the middle, scoring Luke Napleton. The offense continued in the 2nd as Brock Boynton singled up the middle to score Zach Parks. Napleton added a third run on a sac fly to left field that scored Sebastian Martinez to make it 3-0.

During Davenport's half of the 3rd inning, they scored 3 runs on 4 hits to tie the game at 3. As the game flipped to the top of the 4th, Boynton reached on a fielder's choice that scored Martinez. D'Alessio singled to right field to score Boynton from 2nd base. Lance Logsdon kept the line moving as he singled to left field to score Napleton to make it 6-3 Hawks.

In the bottom of the 5th inning, the Panthers added a 2-run home run to make it 6-5. Joe Roscetti got one of those runs back with a solo home run to right field. During the bottom of the 6th, after a couple of Hawk pitching changes, the Panthers made it 7-6 on bases loaded hit-by-pitch. Davenport tied the game in the bottom of the 7th on an RBI triple.

In the top of the 9th, Lance Logsdon hit an RBI double to deep left center field that scored Dayson Croes. Two batters later, Sebastian Martinez added an insurance run with an RBI single to score Logsdon.
