The Quincy University baseball team concluded the four game series against Davenport University, Sunday (Mar. 20). The Hawks fell to the Panthers in both games and ended the series 3-1 Davenport.
Davenport, with a quick start, scored the first couple of runs of the game in the top of the first inning. An RBI double and an infield hit the Panthers put the score 2-0. Davenport scored one more behind an error to stretch their lead to 3-0.
Quincy responded right after as Gino D'Alessio ledoff the inning with a hard single to the right side and was followed by a nuke over the right field wall from Nolan Wosman to open the score for the Hawks 3-2.
With an RBI double, the Panthers stretched their lead to 4-2. Cruz Meier came in clutch for the Hawks and saved the inning by recording two consecutives outs as Meier relieved starting pitcher Jay Hammels who left bases loaded and one out, 4-2.
D'Alessio tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning, when Joe Roscetti opened up the game with a double and D'Alessio followed with a two run bomb to the left field, 4-4.
Four hits were hit by Davenport in the top of the sixth which gave the Panthers back the lead, 6-4.
Once again, the Hawks tied the game in the bottom of the inning when Dayson Croes made it to first on a single bunt. Luke Napleton with his seventh home run of the season, tied the game at 6-6. Zack Parks followed with a double and Brock Boynton with a hard line drive single to put runners in the corners. Boynton with a stolen base, helped Parks make it to the plate to give the Hawks thew a 7-6 lead.
After two bases-loaded walks and a two RBIs single, Davenport managed to regain the lead in the top of the seventh, 10-7. With one more bases loaded walk, the Panthers stretched their lead to 11-7. This was the final score as the Hawks could not score.

Game 2
To start the second game of the doubleheader, Davenport scored two runs in the top of the first after an error and a couple walks to open the score to 2-0.
Lance Logsdon ledoff the game with a big opposite field home run for the Hawks to make it 2-1. After a couple walks, Wosman brought the tying run with a hard single ground ball to left field. The score stayed 2-2, as the game headed to the top of the second inning. Davenport had a seven hit inning and scored six runs, taking this way an 8-2 lead.
Logsdon responded with his second home run of the game, and made it 8-3 in the bottom of the second. The Panthers stretched their lead 10-3 in the top of the third inning.
Quincy scored two runs in the bottom of the inning with Wosman's leadoff double and Tyler Carpenter's two run homer, 10-5.
Davenport continued to score, increasing their lead to 19-5. In the bottom of the sixth, Quincy put some hits together to score two more runs as Parks and Wosman each had an RBI single, 19-7. The Hawks scored once again in the bottom of the seventh inning. Adam Lewis reached first by a hit by a pitch, and not long after stole second base, Lewis was brought to home plate by a hard single from Andrew Buescher to make it 19-8 for the final score. but this was not enough as Quincy lost the game.
