19

The Quincy University men's basketball team fell 93-86 to Truman State University in a GLVC matchup at Pershing Arena on Thursday (February 10) night.

The Hawks drew first blood, with Paul Zilinskas sinking a turn-around jumper and making a driving layup soon after, giving QU an early 4-0 lead with 18:31 remaining. However, they lost the lead a few minutes later and spent the majority of the half fighting their way back, culminating in the Hawks retaking the lead on a Jalen Stamps three-pointer, making the score 26-25 with 6:49 remaining. But after losing the lead again, they were unable to retake it for the rest of the half, with an Adam Moore three-pointer with ten seconds on the clock closing the gap to make it 41-39 TSU going into halftime.

The Hawks once again scored first in the second half, with Jamaurie Coakley making a driving layup to tie the game at 41 with 19:20 remaining. After a few tense minutes of play, the Hawks were able to retake the lead on a Nate Shockey three-pointer, making the score 48-47 QU with 15:49 remaining. After losing the lead yet again, a slam dunk from Coakley made the score 54-53 QU with 12:47 remaining. The Hawks' final lead of the game came roughly a minute later, with Solomon Gustafson making a layup to make the score 58-57 with 11:42 remaining. Despite valiant play from QU during the remainder of the game, they ultimately lost.
