Hawks Fall Short In Another Close GLVC Battle Versus Lindenwood

Quincy University Athletics issued the following announcement on Jan. 15

The Quincy University men's basketball team fell 80-77 to Lindenwood in a nail-biting GLVC matchup at Pepsi Arena on Saturday (Jan 15) evening.

Charles Callier scored the first basket of the game with a jumper, starting the match with a 2-0 Hawks lead 1:22 into the first half. Callier later retook the lead with a layup, with another layup from Jalen Stamps making the score 8-5 Hawks with 16:02 remaining. The Hawks kept the lead for the remainder of the half, with the score being 36-33 when the buzzer sounded.

Callier started the second half off with a bang, scoring a three-pointer thirteen seconds into the half. The Hawks kept the lead for the majority of the half, with another layup from Stamps making the score 67-64 with 4:02 remaining. This was the last time the Hawks would lead the game.

The Hawks kept the remaining minutes of the game close, but they were ultimately stopped at 77 points, with two free throws from Stamps with 0:06 left being the last points scored in the game.

Callier led the Hawks with 17 points and 13 rebounds in 33 minutes, completing a double-double. Stamps and Nate Shockey each scored 13 points in 20 minutes, and Zilinskis (36 minutes) and Malik Hardmon (23 minutes) each scored 11 points.
