Champaign Unit Four Education Association issued the following announcement on Oct. 26
Chick-fil-A Cows for Coats (Oct. 26-28) | UICCU Coat Drive (Nov. 8-15)
The annual Champaign Unit 4 Schools Center for Family and Community Engagement (FACE) “Warm-A-Kid” program is underway. Two local sponsors, Chick-fil-A Champaign and the University of Illinois Community Credit Union, are aiding this year’s collection.
Chick-fil-A Champaign kicks off the coat drive with “Cows for Coats” Tuesday, Oct. 26 through Thursday, Oct. 28, 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. daily. A portion of proceeds from all Chicken Tortilla and Chicken Noodle Soup cups and bowls sold during those times will be donated to Warm-A-Kid.
The University of Illinois Community Credit Union holds its coat drive Monday, Nov 8 through Monday, Nov. 15. Donations of new coats, scarfs, hats, and gloves, may be dropped off at any UICCU location during those dates.
Throughout the fall and winter, donations in the form of new coats and/or monetary contributions payable to “Unit 4 Schools” can be made at Unit 4’s Center for Family and Community Engagement, located at 703 S. New St., Champaign. All donations are tax-deductible.
The most common coat sizes needed are listed below:
- Boys - S, M, L, XL and Men's S and M
- Girls - S, M, L, XL and Women's S, M, and L
- Toddler Boys and Girls- 4T & 5T
The number of low-income households and families in transition continues to grow across the District. Warm-A-Kid is funded solely through donations from the local community. Any gift, however great or small, will make a difference and be remembered for years to come.
Champaign Unit 4 Schools extends a special thank you to those who have consistently supported Warm-A-Kid and been a cornerstone of the program’s success through the years. As with any great cause, seizing the opportunity to make a difference in a child's life requires willing partners who deeply believe in the cause, and demonstrate their belief through their investment.
