Village of Payson Village Board met Sept. 14

Village of Payson Village Board met Sept. 14.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Meeting called to order-

Mayor Dever asks for roll call. Those present were: Chris Dever, Roger Sunde, Kristi Shelton, Robert Stock, Gary Epperson, Don Benjamin and Kyle Beckman.

Secretary’s Report:

Kristi motioned to accept the Secretary’s report from August, Rob seconded and all were in favor.

Guests/Communication/Recognition:

1. Heather Ford was present for OSA- plan on having a Halloween party at the school. If not, can it be held at South park shelter house? Prefer school because of weather issues. Board approved use of shelter house if school isn’t available. Don motioned to donate $100 to OSA for Community Engagement. Rob seconded and all were in favor after roll call vote. Discussion was also held on bringing in bands and working with the OSA on the Halloween party and Christmas party, etc.

2. Question was asked about weed eating- when does it become a problem? Chris will follow up with the property in question.

Maintenance Report:

1. Clean-up on Columbine- Ordinance says it can’t be moved in present condition to another spot in Payson. Clean up is ongoing and should be completed soon. Kristie motioned to accept as written for the removal of the trailer to Town and Country ordinance, Kyle seconded and all were in favor.

Police Report:

1. Couple of homeowners were advised by the officers that their ditches need to be mowed by them.

Parks Committee:

1. Nothing to report.

Monthly Bills/Treasurer’s Report and Misc. Financial Reports:

1. Bills for August- Kyle motioned to approve expenses, Rob seconded and all were in favor after roll call vote.

2. Received $67,292.38 from the 1st release of COVID Relief money.

Old Business:

1. Water Tower grant- no update yet- still pending.

2. Community involvement activity ideas were discussed- Famer’s Market- okay to do per state without permission. Food Wagons/trucks- Food Fridays were discussed. Christmas in the Park- kick off to Christmas season and lighting event were discussed- possibly partner with the Fire Depart and hold it together. Tree lighting, Santa visit, etc. Kyle will follow up w/ Gary Frye and report back at the next meeting.

New Business:

1. A picture was donated by Ken and Janet Meyer of the Hartrick Truck Service location East of Payson. They ask it be hung in the town hall on display- all approved.

Adjournment: Gary made a motion to adjourn. Robert seconded and the meeting was adjourned.
