QU Hawk Jazz Express Band to Host Annual Fall Concert

Quincy University issued the following announcement on Oct. 8

The Quincy University Music Department will host its Hawk Express Jazz Band annual fall concert on Sunday, October 24, at 3:00 p.m. at the Connie Niemann Center for Music located at QU’s North Campus (17th and Seminary Rd). The concert is free and open to the public.

The Hawk Express Jazz Band will perform a wide array of jazz tunes including Stolen Moments, Honeysuckle Rose, Things Ain’t What They Used to Be and In the Mood.  Colby Schulz, sophomore music education major, will be featured on piano and vocals in the standard, Misty.  Phil Haverstock, sophomore music education major, will be featured on the Baritone Saxophone on the exciting piece, Groanin’. The band is under the direction of Christine Damm, D.M.A., dean of the School of Fine Arts and Communication.
